Wow! Da scheint einiges an Glitzer und Mythic drin zu sein! Mit einer foil My Yanling hatte ich nun nicht gerechnet. Und mit zwei weiteren foil Rares sowieso nicht. Noch weniger mit einer weiteren Mu Yanling. Das wäre ein lustiges Draft gewesen. Nun gut, machen wir ein bisschen Mathematik und schauen wir, ob es sich auch finanziell gelohnt hat (MKM-Trendpreise vom 24. Oktober 2019, in CHF umgerechnet, Kurs vom selbigen Tag):

Wir erreichen somit ein Total von CHF 93.82, insofern die Rechnung stimmt. Bei einem Displaypreis von CHF 95.- habe ich nur ein Minus von CHF 1.18. Noch selten hatte ich mit rund einem Franken so viel Spass erlebt! Was für ein tolles Display. Bei einem Core Set hätte ich jetzt niemals gedacht, dass ich hier dem Einkaufspreis so nahe kommen kann. Finally Friday! My favorite day in the week for playing some games of Magic the Gathering. I write this short tournament report in English for my Portuguese friend Pedro, who is an amazing contemporary and draft master at the HoC.

Coming back to the FNM, however, we had two 6-players draft tables. Definitely not my prefered draft constellation, as I would have favored one 12-player table. Nevertheless, it was fun drafting the new Core Set 2020.

There were many good drafters at my table. Some with more experiences, others were youngsters with amazing Magic and booster opening skills. However, after three rounds of giving aroung strong booster packs, I finally built my deck. Here you can have a closer look:

The deck was really amazing to play. But first, let’s talk about the nasty things in this deck. Vilis was my first pick. And I was really happy with him. He is a big demon with awesome stats and a really impressive ability. Vilis was responsible for the top curve slot, together with Meteor Golem, an all star in ever draft format. However, the interesting part of the deck is the three mana slot. There we find 3 (!) copies of Goblin Smuggler and 2 (!) copies of Audacious Thief. Hell yes! These two guys build an awesome tag team. Smashing for two, lose one life and draw one card. This is exatly what I like to play in a FNM draft. If you have that many copies each, you will find the two friends for sure. In addition, Scuttlemutt allowed to play Boneclad Necromancer on turn four. Even on turn five, the Necromancer is a huge threat. Two copies of them felt amazing to play, especially in combination with Soul Salvage, a card that fits well in every black deck. However, while playing the deck, I really noticed how strong Goblin Smuggler is. Also in combination with the two-drop lifelink vampire Blood Burglar. In combination with some removal spells for the opponent’s large threats, there was always a possibility to smash for some two damages. If two damages were not enough, two copies of Infuriate (+3/+2 at instant speed) did a perfect job. However, I was just once winning with Vilis. The rest of the time, the smaller creatures did their job perfectly. In addition, cryptic caves was an amazing card that helped to navigate through hard times of flood. However, the deck finished 3-0 in matches and 6-0 in games.

Das Core Set 2020 ist da! Und natürlich sind wir alle ganz gehypt. Zwar haben sicher schon einige von euch ein Display gerippt, aber es schadet ja nie zu schauen, was andere so in ihren Boxen
hatten. Dieses hier war mein erstes von zwei Core Set 2020 Displays. Und ganz ehrlich, ich finde das Set infach nur toll. Ich liebe Core Sets, vor allem wenn es um Limited geht. Es gibt meist
mehrere Strategien und man kann auch mal verschiedene Farbkombinationen ausprobieren, ohne gleich die zweite Trompete spielen zu müssen. Nun aber hier zu den Picks:

Vier Mythics und eine foil Rare schlichen sich in das Display rein. So macht es doch Spass. Machen wir aber wieder ein bisschen Mathematik und schauen was wir auch so preislich rausgeholt haben

Alles zusammen ergibt ein Total von CHF 80.16. Rechnen wir noch ca. CHF 2.- für die Commons und Uncommons dazu, so ergibt das ein Gesamttotal von CHF 82.16. Bei einem investment von CHF 105.-
ergibt das somit ein Minus von CHF 22.84. Aber das ist gar nicht weiter tragisch. Bei einem Core Set ist das noch öfters so. Nichtsdestotrotz war ich schon ziemlich verwundert, dass die Mythic
Chandra und Sorin so teuer sind. Ohne die beiden wird es wohl enorm schwierig einen guten Value aus dem Display zu holen. 

Aber wir rippen ja Displays nicht weil es ökonomisch Sinn macht, sondern weil es einfach ein riesen Spass ist. Der Nervenkitzel gehört dazu und entschädigt auch den Verlust. Bis bald wieder!
